Our Editorial Standards
Yolist is built on trust. These editorial standards govern how we collect, display, and protect information about UK businesses and customer reviews.
Policy effective: January 2026 — last reviewed: May 2026
1Independence
Yolist does not accept payment in exchange for better organic rankings. No business can buy a higher position in our search results or category listings — positions are determined entirely by our ranking algorithm, which is based on review quality, profile completeness, verification status, and response rate.
Paid advertising (Sponsored placements) is clearly labelled and separated from organic results. We make clear to users which results are promoted and which are organic. Our editorial team cannot be influenced by our sales team to alter organic rankings.
No editorial content — articles, guides, research, or category descriptions — is commissioned in exchange for payment from listed businesses.
2Accuracy
We source business data from Companies House (registered address, company number, incorporation date), the Food Standards Agency (hygiene ratings), and OS postcodes. This public data is supplemented by business-owner submissions and verified by our data team on a rolling basis.
We make reasonable efforts to flag stale or potentially inaccurate information. Business profiles that have not been claimed or updated for 24 months are marked with a data freshness indicator. If you believe information about a business is inaccurate, you can use the "Report an error" link on any business profile.
Where we publish statistics or original research, we disclose methodology and data sources. Our research pages link directly to the underlying datasets.
3Review Integrity
All reviews submitted to Yolist are verified via email: reviewers must confirm their email address before a review is published. We enforce a policy of one review per email address per business.
We use automated spam detection and human moderation to identify and remove fake, incentivised, or defamatory reviews. Businesses cannot pay to have negative reviews removed, and cannot submit reviews for their own listing.
Verified reviews — those from users who have a confirmed booking or transaction record on Yolist — are marked with a "Verified" badge. Unverified reviews are published but clearly distinguished. Business owners may flag reviews for moderator review, but this does not guarantee removal.
4Transparency
Business owners can claim their listing, update information, and respond publicly to reviews. All changes made by business owners are logged with a timestamp and are visible to our moderation team. Significant edits (address changes, ownership changes) may be held for review.
Our ranking algorithm is documented publicly at /about/ranking. We publish a plain-English explanation of the factors that influence how businesses appear in search results.
Yolist is independently owned and operated. We have no financial relationships with individual businesses that would influence editorial decisions.
5Corrections
We are committed to correcting factual errors promptly. If you believe any information published by Yolist is inaccurate, please email corrections@yolist.uk with the URL of the relevant page and a description of the error.
Verified factual errors are corrected within 5 business days. Where an error has been live for more than 48 hours, we add a correction note to the affected page. We do not silently delete corrections.
Businesses that dispute data sourced from Companies House or the FSA should contact those organisations directly, as we are obliged to display their official data.
