How do I filter search results?
Use the filter panel to narrow results by distance (e.g. within 5 miles), star rating (e.g. 4 stars and above), open now, or specific attributes like FSA hygiene rating for food businesses.
Why are some businesses shown at the top of search results?
Search results are ordered by relevance, star rating, review count, and whether the business has a complete profile. Premium businesses may also appear higher due to their verified and complete listing status.
What tips can improve my search results?
Try using category names instead of business names (e.g. 'electrician' rather than a specific company). Adding a city or postcode narrows results to your area. Use the sort options to rank by rating or number of reviews.
What should I do if I get no search results?
Check your spelling, try a broader search term, or remove city and category filters. You can also browse all categories from the home page. If the business you're looking for isn't listed, you can add it for free.
How does location-based search work on Yolist?
Enter a UK city name or postcode in the search box or city selector. Yolist uses OS postcode data to match businesses within your chosen radius. For best results, use a full postcode (e.g. SW1A 1AA) combined with a radius filter.
What advanced filters are available?
Beyond star rating and distance, you can filter by: open now (based on business hours), has photos, premium/verified businesses only, service type (mobile callout, online/remote, same-day availability), spoken language, and booking availability.
Can I save a search to use later?
Yes. When you are logged in, a Save search option appears above your results. Saved searches are accessible from your dashboard under Saved Searches, so you can re-run them at any time without re-entering your filters.
Does Yolist suggest searches as I type?
Yes. The search box offers autocomplete suggestions based on popular categories, business names, and recent searches. You can also try AI Search at /search/ai to ask in plain English, such as 'best plumber near me open on Saturdays'.
What do I do if a business I'm looking for isn't on Yolist?
If a business isn't listed, you can add it for free at yolist.uk/add-listing. Alternatively, contact us and we'll look into adding it from our open data sources. Business owners can claim and verify their own listing at any time.
