What is break-even analysis?
Break-even analysis shows the point at which total revenue equals total costs. Below this point, your business makes a loss; above it, you make a profit.
The formula
Break-even (units) = Fixed Costs ÷ (Selling Price − Variable Cost per Unit)
The denominator is called the contribution margin — the amount each unit sale contributes toward covering fixed costs.
